Looking
South at Sunset (photo)
Summer is over and I am anxious to spend more time
painting in the studio. The gardens were beautiful and I have lots of
photos to paint from.
NEW
BOOK
I recently completed a new book as a PDF data file on a CD. It can be read
on a computer monitor with Adobe Reader and pages can be printed as
desired. You can find it on my book link above.
PAINT QUALITY
When you paint be aware of the paint quality you are
producing. Strive for:
| Clean, Luminous Color |
Color Changes That Flow Through Each Passage |

Use Complementary Colors to Create Vibration

Jubilance
(14 x 21”
)
This painting is a good example of my mingling
technique. Notice where I’ve taken liberty with the local color and
made a color change that might have been reflected on the flower. I do
this to create interest and dimension to the flat surface. Don’t allow
your left brain to fool you into believing an object is just one color!
Our three dimensional world bounces colors around, creating a
kaleidoscope of beauty. Look carefully and you’ll see it!
