From the Studio (photo)
My series of portraits of my cats is continuing with this one of Kelsey, titled, “Basking”. I managed to catch a photo of him in great lighting and later took several more of his eye in this position. The surface is hot press Stonehenge Aqua. It allowed me to lift some hairs in the highlights and sculpt edges with a damp brush. I made a very light drawing on the paper using Winsor Newton non-staining Manganese Blue. I “erased with a damp brush.

Yellow Rose and River Reverie were voted into the top 100 of the Art of Watercolor Magazines Readers’ Choice Competition Issue 45
I presently have no workshops scheduled. Any future ones will probably be local. I do have 4 digital books, a hard cover book and 2 videos on this site for those who want to see information about how I paint, my materials and more. There is also painting information in the archived issues of the Seasonal Notes from other seasons. You can view a variety of my paintings on the gallery pages. Heavenly Hibiscus and Dahlia Duo, were voted as top paintings in The Art of Watercolor Magazine’s Summer Issue 46, Readers’ Competition. They received 118 and 73 of the top 100 votes respectively, of 10,567 votes cast.
