The workshop in July resulted in the three demonstration paintings that follow.
The first is a floral painted on Waterford 140LB cold pressed paper. Colors were mingled on wet paper in sections and some glazing was done by pre-wetting the area with a soft brush and floating color on. Edges were softened with a damp brush as needed.
This landscape is painted on Strathmore 500 series 5 ply plate illustration board. It is a forgiving surface that allows lifting and beautiful textures. The background foliage was developed in several layers and some tree shapes were lifted with a damp brush. Unrestrained 14 x 21″ Shadow Dance 21 x 14″
This third painting of a water lily is on Mitz Terra Skin. This surface is made from stone dust and is very smooth, much like Yupo. Paint lifts well and it makes interesting textures. I painted with the board flat since liquid flows easily on this surface. Wet areas take a very long time to dry completely, making the painting process a long one. Here are the main steps of the painting. Colors were floated on with a soft Princeton Quill brush. As each wash dried, I adjusted edges and colors as the textures changed all the while the area was drying. I did carefully glaze over some areas again to make adjustments.

The small floral painting was a sketch for a larger one; Shadow Dance, which appears above.
This small landscape is painted on Bockingford watercolor paper, which allows good lifting.
The small floral of Echinacea was included in my digital book, Make Flower Paintings Glow in Watercolor.
