Summer Symphony was painted on Plate Illustration board. It was fun to work with a limited palette and create a variety of textures. The back lighting gave me an interesting group of shapes to paint. Colors used are; Raw & Burnt Umber, Quinacridone Coral, Permanent Rose, Cobalt Blue and Berlin Blue, by Maimeri, Blu.
NEWS FALL
My one-day workshop in August at View Arts Center in Old Forge, NY resulted in several demonstrations that follow.
This demonstrates lifting a water splash against a rock on gessoed paper. The second demo is on Bristol board. After the rock was painted and dry I sprayed it with water on a toothbrush and then wiped the droplets with a paper towel.
This stream painting is on Strathmore Plate Illustration board. It shows a variety of textures that include direct painting, mingling of colors, lifting and spraying water into wet paint. It is only partly finished.
Here is the start of a chrysanthemum on Yupo paper, which is very slippery and paint lifts easily from it. The drawing made with Manganese blue, which does not stain at all and can be wiped off with a damp brush or tissue. Pencil would damage the surface.
