SEASONAL NOTES FALL 2026

 “ Spring Flow” was started a year ago and recently had a makeover. The rock shapes and values were changed and developed further. This is on a half sheet of Crescent Watercolor board.

 

Illuminated is painted on Strathmore Plate illustration board,  This is a favorite local stream in Keene Valley, New York, near Lake Placid. There are numerous sections of water tumbling over boulders and rocks, but again, the light pattern was my real subject.  I chose a cool yellow to represent the light areas and oppose the cool water and rocks. Colors were mingled on wet sections of paper and darks were added in the same manner after the first washes were dry. This was started last year and worked on a few times later; It still needed more! Minor changes included softened edges and small alterations of color and value.

 

“Stirred Up” Was started in 2020 and just completed after much contemplation. This is on a sheet of illustration board. I made lots of changes in both  the water and some of the rocks.
