The year was off to a snowy, sub zero start and I’ve procrastinated painting while doing paperwork and other cleaning and clearing in the studio. Here are my first efforts of the year.
Unfolding is a painting of a Peony bud partially opened, on Waterford 140 LB. cold pressed paper. It has warm and cool colors mingled on the surface. I painted in sections, by wetting the section and then floating colors on. I softened and lifted edges and highlights as needed. The foliage in the background has a lot of softened edges to avoid competing for attention with the flower. I also linked some of the leaves together, rather than painting isolated shapes with all hard edges.
I presently have no workshops scheduled. Any future ones will probably be local. I do have 4 digital books, a hard cover book and 2 videos on this site for those who want to see information about how I paint, my materials and more. There is also painting information in the archived issues of the Seasonal Notes from other seasons.
