Sunrise From the Studio (photo)
Spring is slowly making an appearance here at the lake.
I’ve finally finished my painting of our dear cat, Kelsey, whom we lost to illness a few months ago; way too young! In his honor, I created this half sheet painting.
I was tempted to make it this simple, but after consideration went ahead and added the rest of his body.
I started with just this much because I knew I needed to get his eyes right, or it wouldn’t work.
This is a half sheet of Strathmore heavyweight, plate, smooth illustration board, which normally lets me move and lift paint with ease. Turned out, it had a sizing problem, which sometimes happens, so had to be inventive with paint handling.
