Scintillating

This was in my Fall Notes. After looking at it for a while, I went back in with some subtle changes; mostly deeper values I have finally resolved it to a more successful finish.

 

 

The Tourists

This is on a half sheet of Stonehnge paper, which has a liftable surface. This makes it easy to smooth edges and lift lights. The subject is from a photo I took while in New York’s Washington Square several years ago in late spring. These ladies were obviously touring and I responded to their enthusism. In each of these paintings the values and color were intensified. Some shapes were slightly altered.
